Onsite Dining

Our dining spaces, Counter and The Roof, are closed for the season. We look forward to reopening on April 17, 2020 and are still booking events.

Counter

Set in the historic Newmark building in the heart of downtown Salem, Counter is our modern take on a lunch counter with a dining experience rooted in fresh, simple, modern food. Our seasonal Salem restaurant features an open-concept kitchen and dining for 50 on the first floor of The Hotel Salem, with outdoor patio seating for 30. Our menu celebrates regional New England flavors, featuring clever starters, baked goods, and sandwiches. Counter is for the people of our small but vibrant city as well as for those passing through to gather over conversation, cocktails, and great food.

The Roof

Unique among Salem restaurants, The Roof offers Salem’s only rooftop bar and restaurant serving the necessities—strong drinks and simple food. Located at the top of The Hotel Salem, this seasonal dining space features an outdoor kitchen and expansive views of Salem’s cobblestone streets and bustling harbor. Expect to find some of the best-crafted cocktails in the area, as well as tacos, ceviche, and oysters. The Roof is for locals and tourists alike looking for a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere to unwind.

The Cellar

Tucked in below Counter at The Hotel Salem, The Cellar is an event space and private rental bar. With eight draft lines, craft cocktails, and barrel-aged spirits, no one will go thirsty at this hidden gem. Host anything from a corporate retreat to a private party or funky wedding reception in this expansive space, watch the game on our three televisions, or catch up with friends over an assortment of games. The style can be whatever you make it.
